Us stocks closed mixed on Friday, with Nvidia tumbling 10 per cent, dragging technology stocks down sharply. The S & P 500 and the Nasdaq fell for the sixth day in a row. Investors played down the impact of the Israeli military strike on Iran, focusing instead on the Fed's monetary policy path and the latest earnings reports such as Netflix and Procter & Gamble.

The Dow rose 211.02 points, or 0.56%, to 37986.40; the Nasdaq fell 319.49, or 2.05%, to 15282.01; and the S & P 500 fell 43.89, or 0.88%, to 4967.23.

The three major indexes of u.s. stocks have been mixed this week, with the Dow up 0.01% this week. The s & p 500 index fell 3.05% in a week, its biggest weekly decline in six months and its third consecutive week of decline.

The Nasdaq fell 5.52% this week, the fourth consecutive week of decline.
